SAL Update – Bee #8

I’ve been able to do some work on the Bee during the holiday season! So, here’s last time:

In-progress image of a counted cross-stitch project. Pink and blue flowers on top of a yellow-orange background. On the right, a honeycomb cell takes shape, which is partly overlaid by the outline of another small flower.

And here’s where I am today, at just over 20% of the whole pattern done:

In progress shot of a counted cross-stitch-pattern. Shown is a background stitched in mottled yellows and oranges, with honeycomb hexagons emerging on the right side and little blue flowers interspersed.

There’s considerably more honeycomb to see now! I’m planning to stitch the background all the way to the right edge of the design before making my way down and stitching the actual bee. I had a bit of trouble with this fabric not staying tensioned in the frame (never had that with Green Iguana, so I’m blaming the fabric), so I asked a friend for some felt scraps and put it on the fabric where the frame goes – instant fix, I’m much happier now with how things are going!

Here are the other members of the SAL who are posting today. Make sure to check out their work, it’s amazing: Avis, Claire, Gun, Christina, Kathy, Margaret, Cindy, Heidi, Jackie, Sunny, Megan, Deborah, Sharon, Daisy, AJ, Cathie, Linda, Helen and Connie.

  1. I am dealing with the tension problem on my scroll frame also. I like the felt idea. I have been using scraps of batting which work well also. You did a lot of stitching these past three weeks.

  2. You did get a lot done this time!

  3. love the little blue flowers in contrast

  4. Fantastic progress! I love the vibrant colors as well as the design. Beautiful work!

  5. Filling in beautifully!

  6. Great progress!

  7. Lots of wonderful progress. Your project is so cheerful – just what I needed on a grey rainy day.

  8. Such a lovely bright piece. Beautiful work!

  9. Glad you fixed tension issue, I’ve never gotten used to hoops or frames for that very reason, I stitch in hand. Sometimes it’s neater, sometimes it’s not yet my technique is the same. You’ve made lovely progress however!

  10. Such a lovely cheerful design, lots of progress too
