As promised, today there’s an update on my owl. Turns out that starting a new project is just what I needed to also continue making progress on this one. I have now learnt how much I prefer working on 25-count fabric, it’s just so much more solid and less fiddly than the 28-count I’m using for Bee! So, here’s our owl today:

She’s got feet now, and you can see the negative space where the tail feathers and the branch she’s sitting on will go. That’s rather more progress than I expected to make, so yay! Here’s the comparison to last time:

The compare doesn’t work perfectly here because I had to extend the frame a bit to show the bits at the bottom, but I still think it gives a good impression on what’s happened since last time.

Here are the other members of the SAL who are posting today. Make sure to check out their work, it’s amazing: Avis, Claire, Gun, Carole, Christina, Kathy, Margaret, Cindy, Heidi, Jackie, Sunny, Megan, Deborah, Renee, Carmela, Sharon, Daisy, Anne, AJ, Cathie, Linda and Helen.

  1. You’ve gotten a whole lot of stitching done in the last 3 weeks. Wow! I love that before and after comparison feature.

  2. that’s amazing progress on this cheeky owl ^^

  3. That’s great progress!

  4. You have out done yourself this time 😀 – I don’t envy stitching so much black on a white background (I would have been lazy and bought a black fabric and stitched white where it was needed instead) but this is coming along nicely.

    • Well, starting under black bit at the bottom, the background will be white, showing the full moon in a black sky, and let me tell you, I mind white-on-white stitching much more than black-on-white, which is positively easy on the eyes.

  5. Great progress. I love the softness of the colors of this wise ol’ owl 🙂 His eyes are so dreamy

  6. You’ve stitched loads this time! Love the movable arrow idea on the photo 🙂

  7. Excellent progress, what great colors this has!

  8. Looking so good! I´m glad you are taking time to finish this owl!

  9. Good progress on owl and a really good start on bee too. I have found that taking a week out from Village to do my hardanger stitch just gives me the break i need to keep my motivation going. x
