I think I may be in the middle of the longest slog this project has. Last time:

Current state:

Filling in the big shell with chain stitch is slow going. And when I’m done with one colour, I get to do it again with another colour in the spaces currently left free. My guess is that I’ll have to show another shot of this stage three weeks from now.

Here are the other members of the SAL who are posting today. Make sure to check out their work, it’s amazing: Avis, Claire, Gun, Carole, Lucy, Jess, Sue, Kate, Debbie Rose, Christina, SusanP, Kathy, Margaret, Cindy, Helen and Steph. Welcome back to Wendy, and welcome to Linda and Catherine who are joining us for the first time!

If you would like to join in please contact Avis, who will give you full details.

  1. this SAL isn’t about speed, it’s about having fun and making progress ^^ Your clam shell is going to be gorgeous!

  2. It’s beautiful, I can see why it’s so time-consuming. I’m very happy to wait patiently for progress when the work is so lovely!

  3. Slow & steady wins the race, especially when working with sparkly threads. You are doing a brilliant job

  4. Some really good progress there!

  5. It’s looking good

  6. Thanks for the welcome! I’m really looking forward to watching this project grow. It looks wonderful. What type of thread are you using? It looks to have a lovely sheen.

    • The thread has a lovely sheen, but is very slippery to work with, probably two sides of the same coin. It says “Rajmahal Art Silk & Viscose. Natural fibre blend” on the packaging, so it’s anybody’s guess if there’s any real silk involved or not.

      • Oh yes, I know that thread! I find it incredibly difficult stuff to work with. No idea if there is real silk or not as you say. You must have extreme patience to be able to stitch so consistently with it.

  7. But it looks GREAT! And while it may not seem like so much progress, that is a lot of space to fill. You are not working with easy threads, so I am very impressed!

  8. It looks beautiful already πŸ™‚

  9. Just keep swimming. It’s my mantra for this week. It’s looking so good.

  10. Every stitch counts. It is going to be awesome when done.

  11. But itΒ΄s looking so beautiful, so hang on to it!!!!

  12. I love the chain stitch! It’s coming along beautifully 😊

  13. Thanks for the welcome. Your project is looking great so far

  14. It might be time-consuming but it looks amazing πŸ™‚

  15. It may take a long time but it looks like it will be well worth it in the end. I’m just glad I’m not tempted to try gold work embroidery – whew!

  16. Might be feeling like the longest project – but it is pretty amazing

  17. But it is going to be lovely. Very pretty.

  18. It’s beautiful work πŸ™‚
