embroidered Flowers

I made this little picture on my recent holidays, because I wanted a nice, portable project to take along. The finished size of the motive is just 6*6 cm. I bought this pattern basically because I liked the way the roses on the left site were done. They really pop up and give the piece an interesting 3D-Effect.

The cross-stitch and backstich are done with just 2 or even 1 strand of embroidery floss, while the flowers where woven around 5 radially placed stitches with all 6 strands.

While I’m not doing a lot of embroidery normally, I always like to try out new techniques and this project was nice because it adds something just a little bit different from most of the counted cross-stitch patterns you can buy.
